Adding the Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow was quite a modification to my bedroom and it has changed the way I used to envisage my mornings.

In this blog, I will be giving you my most honest review as to why you should definitely opt for this product.

Why should you buy the Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow?

As I mentioned, Sobakawa is a must to add to your cart while opting for a pillow.

All Natural Pillow

And here are the reasons why:

  1. Normal Buckwheat Pillows are made available to you starting at 50$. Compared to other companies, Sobakawa Pillows start at 24.99$ which is almost half of all the other competitors. Thus making it exceptionally affordable.
  2. They are bad conductors of heat therefore it does not become hot and allows air to circulate through the pillow at all times.
  3. Helps you to feel energized and rejuvenated after a long good night’s sleep.
  4. It is extremely durable and long-lasting compared to the classic average cotton pillow. It should last you a good 10 years if proper care is taken.
  5. Very comfortable for a long drive or a long sleep.
  6. It has a scent provided by the company which helps you relax in your slumber.
  7. The shape and size of the pillow allow your neck and spine to be aligned in a straight line which helps you get rid of the back and the neck problems you have faced all your life.
  8. It is resistant to dust mites and bug beds as the Buckwheat Hulls have no nutritional value for the common bugs.
  9. Keeps you away from the allergies and unwanted diseases associated with dust mites found in the cotton pillows.
  10. Cervical and lumbar problems can be treated.
  11. Helps in reducing the stress of your spine and neck, waking you up to better mornings.
  12. Offers firm and sturdy support.
  13. There are no harmful chemicals or toxins which you would otherwise breath in the traditional cotton pillow.

Features of Sobakawa Pillow

  • Rundown

Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillows are not the classic Pillows you have been using till now. These Pillows have an origin in the Japanese civilization (around 600 years ago) who discovered the tremendous benefits of using Buckwheat hulls in their bedding.

They subsequently started stuffing the Buckwheat Hulls in their pillowcases as well. More than 70 million Japanese are using buckwheat hull pillows and have been using them for many decades.

Many people in Japan have claimed that the buckwheat pillows have solved their snoring problems, migraines, and sinuses.

Slowly due to its high-quality grade, it started spreading across the globe and its popularity shot up within no time.

Comfortable and soft

  • Material and Making

Buckwheat is a plant that is cultivated for its grain-like seeds and is used in our daily foods.

The Hulls are the outer shells that house the Buckwheat grains. The concave shape of the hulls allows the air to circulate freely and thus keep the pillow cool. It helps to regulate the temperature and keeps your head cool in the summers and warm in the winters.

The cotton pillows which are traditionally used in every other household are vulnerable to dust mites which makes you susceptible to various allergies.

But as the Buckwheat Hulls have no nutritional value in them, they don’t attract the common bed bugs and thus are allergy-free.

Contrary to the classic Pillows these do not have a zipper. That means you won’t be able to adjust the number of Hulls in it.

So, a perfect amount of hulls are engineered into the pillowcases to provide you with the beauty sleep you desire.

Cons

  • The noise is noticeable initially when you buy it.
  • Subjective problem: Dimensions are smaller compared to the traditional cotton pillow.
  • Subjective problem: Buckwheat pillows are firm and sturdy which may not be the requirement for certain customers.

Comparison: The Ultimate WHY?

It’s time for you to get rid of your traditional cotton pillows and swoop in and grab the buckwheat pillow, for it has massive advantages over it. The bulky and puffy cotton pillows have caused you enough problems over the years.

The abounding volume of the cotton pillow has disrupted your otherwise healthy posture.

The Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow is designed specifically for your cervical and lumbar problems.

They have been engineered to the exact dimensions to keep your neck and the vertebral column in one line.

You don’t have to worry about inhaling harmful chemicals and toxins which is a major problem in cotton pillows.

The Buckwheat Pillows have a spring-like effect under compression and are firm and sturdy when you lay your head on them. Cotton pillows do not provide such versatility.

Want to use it while you drive or place it on your office chair to keep a good posture? Or maybe use it while doing Yoga?

The Buckwheat Pillows are the solution to all your problems. The cotton in the traditional pillows starts moving in either direction from where you place your head which creates an enormous gap right in the middle of the pillow.

This is not a big concern in the buckwheat pillow. You just shake your pillow a little bit and there it is, all new and ready to use.

The cotton pillows deteriorate over a short period of time, unlike the Buckwheat Pillow which has an enduring capacity of a whopping 10 years.

My Personal Experience On Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow

Using The Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow has just managed to change the way I feel when I wake up in the mornings.

To avoid the neck problems I have been facing my whole life, my chiropractor told me that the neck and the spine should be more in alignment while you are asleep. And he suggested that I use a Buckwheat Pillow.

So, I ordered the Sobakawa Pillow online and it got delivered to me in three days. When I unboxed the parcel, it appeared very clean and was sealed in plastic.

Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow Review

Viewing it for the first time it seemed to be a bit smaller than the average-sized pillow which made me a little skeptical. The outer pillow cover was soft and comfortable.

Kazu Watanabe“, Ph.D., Doctor of Oriental Medicine authored the helpful brochure, which was inside the box. The brochure stated that the pillow can be used in nine alternative ways that best suit your needs.

Apparently, we can use it while driving for some lower back support, you can fix it on your office chair which will help you maintain a proper posture throughout your time in front of your laptop and also while doing yoga.

You may as well wrap it in plastic and stick it in the freezer during the hot summer days to keep your head calm and cool.

It takes me a long and weary drive to reach my office, so I decided to try it on in my car.

To my surprise, as mentioned in the brochure, it held up to its mark and helped me maintain a good posture throughout my drive.

For the first few minutes I strived a bit to fix it behind my back but after a while, I enjoyed the smooth drive all along. The hulls did make the soft rattling sound at first but with time the sound got unnoticed.

Coming back to what my Chiropractor said brought the Sobakawa Pillow in my bedroom.

I realized that this pillow has the exact size which allows me to keep my neck and the spine in a straight line and helps me get rid of my sore neck.

Researchers and reports from scientists have shown that you happen to have a sore neck because of the big size of the pillow you choose for yourself.

Now with the Buckwheat Pillow, you don’t have to worry about waking up with throbbing pain.

After this subtle change, it makes me feel a lot more rejuvenated and energized in the mornings. Ultimately the fresh mornings have brought a decent glow to my skin and it has become a lot better than it used to be.

Also, my cervical and lumbar issues have been well treated and long gone. Ciao neck problems!

Sobakawa Customer Reviews & Testimonials

  • K Matalavage.

I got EVERYONE hooked on this pillow, it’s so heavenly to sleep on, I love it!

The only thing is that I’ve been obsessed with it, the firmness is starting to go away after 4 months, but I still love it.

  • B Rosemary.

I love this pillow. It has helped me to avoid headaches. I have tried dozens of other pillows. Specialty pillows…

Even from Dr.s, they worked for a few days then the headaches would get worse. This pillow has been wonderful for months now. Time to order another one. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Sherry.

I use it for my feet that hurt so bad at night. I can lay them on the pillow and it distributes the weight and I can get my feet just right. I do have my bed covers raised at the feet to relieve pressure on feet.

I gave for stars because the cover fits a little snug and keeps it firmer. I had to take the cover and use it as a small for misc items in the washing machine. Nice quality. Don’t how I would like under my ear hearing the microbeads move.

  •  Val Steeves.

I suffer from severe headaches with neck and shoulder problems. A home health care nurse told me about the Sobakawa pillow several years ago, and I’ve been using them ever since.

They are very comfortable and accomodating all my pains. As an added bonus, my cats like them too.

  •  Lauren Olsen.

Yes, the pillow is small. Yes, the pillow takes a good 2-3 weeks to break in. Yes, if you are looking for a pillow that looks nice on your bed, this is not it. No, you will not find a better pillow.

As a stomach sleeper, I need a flat pillow that’s soft and moldable to my head. The Sobakawa fits the bill perfectly. Lasts ~2 years before needing to be replaced.

  • Natasha Kennedy.

I have been using this pillow for a couple of years now. It stays cool. Doesn’t bother my neck at night.

The only downfall for me was I should have looked for a bigger size because it is rather small in size. Really like it though.

  1. I was relieved as soon as I opened the Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow, and my worries were realized – one oatmeal color buckwheat pillow with a grayish terry cloth cover seemed to be following me from Asia. It was fluffy and had been wrapped snuggly in its plastic envelope case for shipping overseas – undoubtedly by surreptitious luggage porters and dark-eyed dockhands! I’m no stranger to stress, so I was excited to try this buckwheat pillow that has made its own place on North American shores over time.

  2. I’m no stranger to stress, anxiety and sore muscles. So I was excited to try out Sobakawa buckwheat pillows, which claim that they escape muscle, neck and back pain and help you sleep deeply.

Unlike typical foam pillows – which can sometimes be too soft – the unique design of this pillow offers a firmer feel for those who need or want it . The three-pound combination of hulled buckwheat kernels sewn into a 100% cotton cover mean the pillow is always doing its job: conforming to your shape so well you barely notice it’s there!

  3. I substituted my old pillow for the Sobakawa buckwheat, and it’s been a life changer. I originally tried this product to relieve back pain, but after using it for awhile now, I realize that this is something much deeper than that. With each night of lying on this wonderful thing from Pennsylvania, shadows come off me in the morning when I wake up—inexplicably lighter. Its weight is perfect too; weighing less than average pillows even though its made of beans!

  4. I have slept with a Sobakawa buckwheat pillow for nearly three years now, and I feel so blessed I finally decided to try it. Sleeping is one of my favorite things, but stress often keeps me up at night. The moment I started using the pillows’ husk filling made from rust-resistant brown seeds that fully encircle your head to cradle you in silence, my anxiety about never being able to sleep again slowly vanished. My neck also usually hurts when waking up during the morning hours, but not anymore! And since putting this pillow under your neck slowly helps decompress tense muscles over time, it gives off an amazing effect throughout the day…If you are looking for something ‘different’ or want relief.

  5. The Sobakawa buckwheat pillow has been a godsend for me: it’s often hard to find emotional and physical balance, and this innovative product has helped. I used the three-step process of filling up the bag with grains (it was surprisingly therapeutic), pouring water into the tight waterproof fabric bag that holds them in tight, and finally inserting that into a pillow cover.

The first couple of days were admittedly tough. But after settling in, my sleep felt deep and refreshing, without any crinkly noises or stiff arm position typical seen on other pillows. The result? Relieved feelings from any stressors I may have had pre-bedtime! Its hyperbolic claims seemed so true to me now.

  6. Purchasing the Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow was one of the smartest decisions I’ve made.

My neck tightness and back pain were a thing of the past, my sleep is now deep and uninterrupted, my blood pressure has decreased immensely since adding this buckwheat pillow to my nightly routine. It does all they say it will do—and then some!

  7. This buckwheat pillow was a dream come true for me. In the morning, my neck felt nice and straight, all of my knots were relaxed, and I had no back pain! I have been utilizing this wonderful product every night since then.

  8. Ahhhh…. I’ve been suffering from neck pain and insomnia recently. Friends recommended buckwheat pillows for my backache, so I was excited to try out the Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow that claims to help you escape muscle, neck, or back pain while also getting a good night’s sleep.

I really enjoyed how comfortable this pillow was when I laid on it. The silk cover is a nice detail and lets me cuddle up in bed with warmth all around me. It felt like wrapping myself in happiness! There were many benefits of using this product: after just one week of sleeping with it every single day, not only did my neck pains disappear completely but my quality of sleep increased with time.

  9. I don’t know about you, but I sleep on my side. Plus, for me it takes more than one pillow to stop the hunchback position I like to take.

The Sobakawa is made of buckwheat hulls (you can even smell them), which provide breathability through their natural aeration process; the buckwheat creates air-channels and ventilation due to its high porosity level that induces coolness in tandem with your regular loft memory foam or cotton/polyester pillows. The higher surface area also offers better support for your head and neck making it ideal for those who suffer from snoring!

  10. I have a few problems with my posture, and while I am not one of those people that only gets the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep a night, I often toss and turn throughout the night while still feeling exhausted.

That was until I got this pillow. The Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow is easy on your back thanks to its low spine angle. It conforms comfortably to your neck making it perfect for side or back sleeping styles. It has been proven effective in reducing stress by increasing circulation in hard-working muscles for a deep sleep relieving pain upon waking up! A definite must-buy!

  11. Our family of five has had some bad luck with sleep in the past year. Between frequent nighttime ear infections, my youngest daughter’s eczema flare-ups, and an infant who wakes up at 2 a.m., I was all too happy to try a Sobakawa buckwheat pillow when it came time for a night of relaxation.

My initial reaction? The fabric is so soft – almost velvety – and the pillow itself smells soothingly wheaty – not off-putting at all! In fact, there were plenty of moments that I found myself burying my nose just deep enough into its sack to inhale deeply before going back to work on another assignment from graduate school.

  12. The Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow is a stress relieving sleep companion.

Am I really going to get my many hours of deep, relaxing sleep back? Am I finally going to get the relief from muscle and joint pain that I have been seeking for so long? Maybe all these things will happen if only I give the buckwheat pillow a try!
    In short – it’s worth a shot.

  13. I wasn’t sure what to expect when they said that this thing could do all of these things, but my experience is really unique. After the first night I slept with it, my neck and back were feeling better than they had in ages! So for anyone out there who might be experiencing similar issues or just looking for a good pillow- I HIGHLY recommend the Sobakawa buckwheat pillow. It works wonders at relieving stress, and it helps you sleep so much better than anything else on the market.

  14. I can’t believe I have been going all these years without a Sobakawa buckwheat pillow!
Most of my life, I suffered from back pain after a long day at work or stress from exams. Tense muscles and a sore neck were the norm for me. A friend mentioned their love for this special type of pillow that was used in Eastern cultures. It had been gaining popularity stateside lately too because it helped with stress reduction and muscle tensions. After reading some articles on how good they were, I got one myself – its worth every penny! And you get free shipping if your purchase is more than $50! My sleep has improved dramatically since using this product — I am able to wake up refreshed instead of feeling groggy.

  15. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the Sobakawa buckwheat pillow was. I added it to my bed and immediately felt more rested, even after a stressful 12-hour work day. As promised, my neck muscles were less stiff the following morning.

Product description: If you’re looking for that elusive night of deep sleep then invest in this buckwheat pillow! I’m usually tossing and turning all night long, but this one seemed to fix everything. All the tension left my body – instant relief! I couldn’t believe how much better I felt when it came time to wake up in the morning; never had such a good night’s sleep before either.

  16. I was excited.

Honestly, I don’t think it did anything for me besides keeping my head more elevated on the pillow or filling another space in our bed. If you are interested, make sure to review the website carefully and order a medium/large if you need a wide width (or there is no option).

  17. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first nested my head into the pillow. It was much firmer than I thought it would be, but after waking up with fewer aches and pains than usual, I knew this was the pillow for me. The quality is unmatched, and it also offers an almost therapeutic connection that helps pull you out of stressful moments.

  18. Over the past year, I have been struggling with my stress levels. My doctor suggested that it may be beneficial to try a new sleep position or find relief in an over-priced mattress with some sort of “technology” behind it. But since I have 2 cats and limited space, all of these changes weren’t feasible for me.

That was until my recent discovery into the Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow! Since this pillow is smaller than traditional pillows, I found it easier to slide around on my bed which made moving from one side of the bed to another during restless nights much simpler without waking up petrified like some nights before (I swear they had more precision than Navy SEALs).

  19. I LOVE IT!!!! I have been a big fan of the Sobakawa buckwheat pillow for months now, and it’s my most favorite buckwheat pillow. I’ve used many different brands before, but they always ended up being too hard or too “fragrant.”

  20. I’ve always had issues with sleeping, but after using this pillow for a few weeks, my neck pain diminished. My wife uses it to help her sleep comfortably too. I would recommend this product to anyone who has chronic back or neck pain related to stress or poor posture while they sleep.
